Medical Terminology funnies

I've been doing inpatient PT for a little over a year now, and have read A LOT of "history & physical" info sheets in charts. I'm going to try to post some of the humorous sayings that I read. So, I'll start off with 2 that I've read recently:

1. "Patient suffered a kidney fracture a few months ago."

- Gotta be careful not to break those kidney bones, you know :)

2. " The patient had a colonoscopy for a few months, but it was removed recently."

- Didn't think that they left the "camera" inside you when you had one of those done. That would be pretty painful.

Now, I need to state that the physicians dictate the history and physical for each patient that they see in the hospital. So, they are not the ones to blame for these statements. But I would think that the ones actually typing the dictations would have some background knowledge of medical terminology. I guess that's not a high priority when hiring someone for this position.

I always enjoy coming across these at work. There's never a dull moment....

the MD's do actually have to sign off on those before they go in the chart, though! Hospital H&P's always crack me up. :)
