Tour de France

This post is for Alan because I know next to nothing about this race. All I know is this:

1. It's held every year

2. Lance Armstrong is no longer racing

However, for the last week and a half I have watched the race(s) in the Tour de France. That's because every time I'm with Alan he's watching it. I have enjoyed watching the bikers crash, though. I guess that's because I work in the healthcare field, treating injuries of various sorts. Last night I saw one of the bikers riding alongside a convertible, in which his doctor was riding. The doctor leaned over the side of the car to spray some antibacterial medication on the biker's abrasion. Do you know where the abrasion was? Yup, it was on his bum! It was apparent that he had torn a big hole in his bike shorts from a fall in the race. That amazes me that the doctors can treat an injury/wound while the bikers are still racing!

If you haven't seen any of it, it's worth tuning in just to see the aerial views of the courses. They ride up into the mountains and through little villages that are so beautiful. But what I don't understand is why they allow the fans to stand along side the road. It would be very easy to throw a stick or rock in front of someone you didn't want to win the race. Maybe that's the cause of several of the accidents...

Did you see the dog run out and crash one of the riders? It totaled his bike, but the dog walked away unharmed.
