My class at church has decided to start a co-ed softball team that plays on Tuesday nights. Since I take any opportunity to play softball, I signed up and last night we played our first games. We lost both of them, which is fine with me because I've never played on a co-ed softball team that was the best in the league. I prefer to not play on a really good softball team because it gets a little too competitive for me and ends up not being very fun.
My team plays at West Park (a.k.a. "The Hood") and I decided that everyone on the team should have a rapper nickname to fit into the crowd of people that we would be playing. Michael, I know you will be happy to know that my rapper nickname is "Heavy D". So, during both of the games those on the bench were yelling "Heavy D" whenever I was up to bat or made a play in the field. It was a lot of fun, even though we lost by the run rule in the second game. We are just learning where to put people in the field and we are playing teams that have played together for a while. So I hope we won't have a terrible record at the end of the season.
The reason for the title of this post is because that is the name of our team. I have expressed my opinion about the name to everyone: I hate it! It sounds like we are really cocky and think we are the best. But I've been informed that it's meant to be sarcastic and other teams will know that we aren't serious about softball when we play them. Therefore, the teams will get our sense of humor in choosing a team name. Also, our jerseys are red with a picture of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) in blue on the front. I really don't quite get the humor in the picture, but I wasn't the one who decided what would be on the shirts. Anyway, I'll have to post a picture of the team (or some of the team members) wearing the shirts.
Our record is: 0-2. This is going to be a great season!
