Week Four in Atlanta
This one is going to be pretty short because it was pretty uneventful. My clinical is going well so far and each weeks gets better and better. I'm beginning to really enjoy coming in to work because I'm much more comfortable with the atmosphere and with treating patients in this specialized area. My C.I. has even dropped a few comments this week about me coming back to work here when I graduate. Even though I'm still not sold on moving to Atlanta, the comments mean that my C.I. is pleased with how this clinical is going so far. Only two stories about this week: The first involves a meeting I attended with my C.I. on Wednesday morning. He, along with 3 other PTs within the company are starting an ACL injury prevention clinic that they hope to perform with all the local schools and all sports. It's just in the works at this point and they started the planning back in November of 05. The meeting this week was to finalize putting together a brochure to give out to potential coaches/teams that will be getting involved. The brochure will include several pictures of some exercises that will be implemented into the program. Well, they were trying to think of a high school boy and girl athlete that could pose for the pictures. They had no problems thinking of a boy for the pics, but were having trouble thinking of a girl to ask. I was just sitting there really quiet, hoping my young 'look' wasn't being noticed. But it didn't work. One of the PTs pointed to me and asked if I would be able to pose as a high school athlete... My C.I. told me that if I would be in the pictures I would not have to do an inservice for this clinical. I couldn't pass up that offer. So, at the end of this month I will be once again modeling for a brochure. I'm thinking I should start a portfolio for my future modeling career in teen magazines... The second story is actually going to take place on Monday. My C.I. informed me that I will be doing an evaluation on a kid who just signed to play football next year for my favorite collegiate team!!! I am really excited because he's famous in my book. I plan to wear something either in the team colors or something that has the team name on it. In order to maintain patient confidentiality, I will not disclose the name of my favorite team, but if you know me you probably have an inkling of what school it might be :)
