Last night, Sara and I went to see "The lion, the witch and the wardrobe", and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to write an entry about it. For those of you who haven't read the book, I highly encourage you to do so. However, the movie is so close to the book that you are able to see the entire story that is written. I will not give away anything about the movie to those of you who have not seen it yet, but there was only one scene that I noticed was different from the book. What I enjoyed most about the movie was all of the symbolism relating to the crucifixion of Jesus. Sara and I talked about it on the way home last night and mentioned that were both somewhat emotional during the movie because it reminded us of God's love for us that is described so well in John 3:16-17: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." There are many other symbolic characters that we tried to relate to the story of Jesus and his time on this earth. Some of the biblical characters that we mentioned were Judas and John the Baptist. Like I mentioned earlier, I will not give away any details concerning the movie, but I encourage you to watch it with the mindset of relating it to the life of Jesus. In my opinion, it makes the movie so much more enjoyable. There are 7 (I think) books in The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, and I'm interested to see all of the movies that are made for this series. I am also interested to hear others' thoughts on the movie and if they could relate any characters to those in the life of Jesus. Yes. I think there are more Narnia movies to come... |
