Many of you may be wondering why I chose "Feels Like Today" for the title of my blogspot. Or many of you may think you know why... There are two reasons behind choosing this title, and the first one is that it's a title of a song by Rascal Flatts (which, if you read my profile, you'll learn they are my favorite band). The second reason dates back to the time I was in preschool.
My Dad tells this story much better than I ever could, but I'm going to try my best. They were happy times, before my brother Michael was born :) , when it was just me and my older sister Sara. Since most of the "funny stories" of me occurred when I was 3 years old, I am going to guess that this one also occurred during that same year! I wasn't as bright as I am now, and for some reason had a lot of difficulty determining the difference among "yesterday, today, and tomorrow". I would constantly ask my parents what day it was... So, that sets up the events occurring very early one Saturday morning in the little house in Montgomery.
My dad was on the verge of waking up that morning, but was still trying to fight it because it was, in fact, a day that he could sleep in late. Well, he rolls over to face the outside of the bed and has this unrelenting sensation that someone else is in the room. He slowly opens his eyes, and there I am face to face with him (only 6 inches between us). My eyes are opened wide and a look of fear is spread out over my entire face. Being the loving, concerned father that he is (and relieved that it wasn't a stranger come to rob his family), he gently asks me "What's the matter, Dinah?" With great apprehension, I quietly ask (so as not to wake up Mom, which I don't think even a foghorn can wake her when she's sleeping)..... "Is this today?!?!?"
After reassuring me that it was, in fact, TODAY, my Dad proceeds to laugh out loud and probably say "Let's go to Shoney's this morning." (I am only assumming that this is what happened. We never get past this part of the story when Dad tells it because my family is laughing out loud at this point.) The Shoney's part is probably a good guess because that used to be our Saturday morning treat when my sister, brother, and I were young. Those were great times!!!
So, those are the reasons that I chose this title of my blogspot. Mom and Dad, I love you both so much, and always smile when I think of when Sara, Michael and I were little. I look forward to coming home for Christmas. Michael, I love you too, and life just wouldn't have been the same without you in it! Sara, this story is to let you know what you get to look forward to when Camden gets a little older... I'm attaching a picture of me when I was in preschool and another one of my family because I love 'em so much.
